Critical Safety Information
Read and understand all warnings before specifying, installing, or maintaining this product.
Installation Warnings
- Professional Installation Required: Fire doors must only be installed by qualified professionals with knowledge of NZS 4520:2010 requirements.
- Wall Fire Rating: The wall opening must have an equal or greater Fire Resistance Level (FRL) than the door assembly.
- Do Not Modify: Any modification to the door, frame, or hardware will void the fire rating and warranty.
- Hardware Substitution: Only use hardware that has been fire-tested and on the approved hardware list with this door assembly. Unauthorized substitutions void fire rating.
- Installation Tolerances: Door-to-frame clearances must comply with NZS 4520. Excessive gaps compromise fire performance.
Use Limitations
- Maximum Opening Size: Do not exceed the maximum opening dimensions specified in the fire test report.
- Environmental Conditions: Product is designed for interior use in normal building conditions. Not suitable for high-humidity or exterior applications unless specifically rated (additional requirements).
- Operational Force: Door closer must be adjusted to provide closing force within Building Code requirements (typically 65-90N).
- Hold-Open Devices: Fire doors must not be propped open unless using an approved automatic release mechanism connected to the fire alarm system.
Maintenance Warnings
- Regular Inspection Required: NZ Building Code requires six-monthly inspections. Failure to maintain may result in non-compliance.
- Damaged Doors: Fire doors with damage to core, seals, or hardware must be repaired or replaced immediately. Do not use damaged fire doors.
- Painting/Finishing: Use only approved paints/finishes. Some products can compromise intumescent seal performance, therefore dont paint over intumescent seals
